Privacy Policy

1. Overview

LiteSugar (“the App” or “we”) is a local-first blood glucose logging tool. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

Core principle: Your glucose and health-related data stays on your device by default. We do not upload it to LiteSugar-owned servers, and we do not use your health data for ads or sell it to third parties.

2. Information We Process

When you use the App, you may provide or generate the following (stored locally by default):

• Glucose records (values, time, scene, meal type, tags, notes, etc.)
• HbA1c records
• Diet records (optional photos) and exercise records
• Target ranges, units, language, and other settings
• Optional: blood glucose data read/written via Apple Health
• Optional (Pro): the above synced via your private iCloud database

3. Local Storage (Default)

The App stores your records and settings in a local database on your device. Core features work without a LiteSugar account.

Unless you export files, enable iCloud sync (Pro), or authorize Apple Health, we do not upload this health data to LiteSugar servers.

4. Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, we may read and/or write blood glucose data on your device to help you manage readings in one place.

• HealthKit access is processed locally and does not pass through LiteSugar servers
• You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health
• We do not use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or sale to third parties

5. iCloud Sync (LiteSugar Pro)

If you subscribe to LiteSugar Pro and enable iCloud sync, your data syncs across devices linked to your Apple ID via Apple iCloud / CloudKit private database.

• Data is stored in your private iCloud space, powered by Apple
• LiteSugar does not use your iCloud data for ads or third-party sharing
• After disabling iCloud sync, new data remains on your device

6. Photo Library

If you add meal photos, the App accesses your photo library only when you choose images. Photos are stored locally (and within optional iCloud sync) and are not uploaded to LiteSugar servers.

7. Face ID / Touch ID (LiteSugar Pro)

If you enable app lock, biometric authentication is handled by iOS. LiteSugar does not collect or store your biometric data.

8. In-App Purchases

LiteSugar Pro subscriptions and lifetime purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. We receive only purchase status and receipt information from Apple to verify Pro access—not the content of your health records.

9. Data Export

Pro users may export CSV or PDF files. Exported files contain personal health information. You are responsible for keeping them secure when sharing or storing them.

10. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your health data
• We do not use your health data for targeted advertising
• We do not upload your glucose records to LiteSugar servers without your action or consent
• We do not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or medication advice

11. Retention & Deletion

Data remains on your device (and optional private iCloud) until you delete records or uninstall the App. Uninstalling typically removes local data per iOS behavior; iCloud retention follows Apple’s policies.

You may delete individual records in the App or remove local data by uninstalling.

12. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently processed a child’s information, please contact us.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted in the App or on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use means you accept the revised policy.
